This study applied latent class analysis (LCA) to identify subgroups of female juvenile offenders based on their self-report of offending profiles (N=133). Cambridge, England: Cambridge University Press. METHODS: Latent class analysis (a statistical technique to identify clustering of variance from a set of categorical variables) was applied to 174 cases using clinical diagnostic information to identify the most parsimonious model of best fit. We develop a latent class modeling approach for joint analysis of high-dimensional semicontinuous biomarker data and a binary disease outcome. Latent class analysis was used to cluster people according to their beliefs, attitudes, etc. Using latent class analysis on these variables, we derive seven classes. In applying the proposed approach to an epidemiological study that examined the relationship between environmental polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) exposure and the risk of endometriosis, we identified a highly significant overall effect of PCB concentrations on the risk of endometriosis. We applied latent class analysis to measures of affection and conflict in 2,698 older parent–child relationships in 6 developed nations: England, Germany, Israel, Norway, Spain, and the United States (Southern California). This study introduces several recent innovations in latent class analysis to a wider audience of researchers. LINK: Download Applied Latent Class Analysis Book. There is a growing gulf between the elite and the lower classes, and what used to be termed the middle and working classes seem to be splintering into social classes with systematically differing amounts of cultural and social capital. Structural equation model and its applications (2nd ed.) Beijing, China: Educational Science Publishing House. To determine the underlying causes that were more likely to lead to PMV, we applied LCA to group separate co-morbidity diagnoses into no more than 10 clusters of in-patients who had undergone PMV. The Great British Class Using latent class analysis on measures of economic, social and cultural capital, from our nationally representative sample, we defined a new model of class in Britain today. [I like this tidbit: 2% of respondents said they'd never heard of global warming]. Cambridge, UK: Cambridge University Press. What predicts relapse: Prospective testing of antecedent models.
